Spacewalk: How to live the new story of the universe and participate in the renewal of the Earth

Anima Mundi – Pilsen stop (Prešticka 1761/4, Pilsen 3)

October 10, 2019 from 6 p.m.

"We study the story of the universe primarily to live it."

Brian Thomas SWIMME, cosmologist

The new cosmology of the epic of evolution, developed by American cosmologists Thomas Berry and Brian Thomas Swimme, is a synthesis of the latest findings of modern science and the wisdom of ancient spiritual traditions, including indigenous spirituality; it shows us the universe as one creative evolutionary story of which we as human beings are a part and in which we directly participate. It re-initiates us into connection with the universe and helps us integrate the new surprising scientific findings about the vast expanding omnicentric cosmos into our bodies, into our emotions, into our hearts, and at the same time encourages us to actively cooperate in the current "great work" of restoring the devastated Earth.

Let's introduce two currently published publications on the new cosmology – a book by an American cosmologist Brian Thomas Swimm The hidden heart of the cosmos (Malvern) and a book by an American astronomer and therapist Stephan Martin Living a cosmic life (Pilgrim) – and we will become acquainted with numerous practices that help us to unite with the processes of the evolving cosmos. First of all, we will become acquainted with the ritual of the cosmic walk, which was developed by the Dominican Sister Miriam Theresa MacGillis based on the work of Thomas Berry and Brian T. Swimm. We will imagine different versions of this ritual as they were developed in different parts of the world (USA, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, India, France), as well as other authors – cosmologists, therapists and artists – who today significantly contribute to the spread of this new cosmology (Michael Dowd and Connie Barlow, Glenys Livingston, Mary Coelho, Greg Morther, etc.).
