As part of this year's May M\u00e1chov hiking tour, we will connect the landscape of the Bohemian Central Mountains with the landscape of the Koko\u0159\u00edn region. This time, the route of our hike will lead unconventionally from Litom\u011b\u0159ice (where we will travel by train from Prague on Friday morning, May 1st) through Radob\u00fdl, Porta Bohemica, Mount Varho\u0161\u0165 and the eastern part of the Bohemian Central Mountains (the so-called Verne\u0159ick\u00e9 Central Mountains) with the magical Mount Sedlo to \u00da\u0161t\u011bk; from \u00da\u0161t\u011bk we will continue to Kalv\u00e1ria na Ostr\u00e9 and from there to the western part of the Koko\u0159\u00edn region to Mal\u00fd Vlho\u0161\u0165, where we will celebrate 'May, the time of love' with a poetry recitation. From Vlho\u0161\u0165 we will descend to Holany, from where we will return to Prague. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday 8 May: Prague \u2013 Litom\u011b\u0159ice, Radob\u00fdl, Porta Bohemica, Kam\u00fdk, Ple\u0161ivec, Varho\u0161\u0165 (18 km)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We will meet at 7 am in Prague at the main train station, from where we will take the train via V\u0161etaty to Litom\u011b\u0159ice at 7:20 am. In Litom\u011b\u0159ice we will remember the life story of the poet Karel Hynek M\u00e1cha, who died unexpectedly soon after a tragic event here on November 5, 1836. In the North Bohemian Gallery of Fine Arts we will visit the current exhibition "Through the M\u00e1chov landscape<\/strong><\/em>", which is being prepared by curator Alena Ber\u00e1nkov\u00e1 for the 210th anniversary of M\u00e1ch's birth. The exhibition will focus on romantic tendencies in the visual arts and present reflections on M\u00e1ch's literary work from the Romantic era through the artistic movements of realism and surrealism to contemporary visual arts. It will feature, for example, Adolf Kos\u00e1rek, Anton\u00edn and Josef M\u00e1nesov\u00e1, Jan Preisler, Jind\u0159ich \u0160t\u00fdrsk\u00fd, Pavel Ne\u0161leha, V\u00e1clav Jir\u00e1sek, Franti\u0161ek Sk\u00e1la, Milo\u0161 \u0160ejn, Jan H\u00edsek, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a tour of the exhibition and subsequent lunch, we will set off from Litom\u011b\u0159ice to Radobyl<\/em> (399 m above sea level), a distinctive basalt hill above Litom\u011b\u0159ice, a European significant natural monument, which is also the legendary M\u00e1chov topos. There is a unique view from here, especially to the western part of the Bohemian Central Mountains on Porta Bohemica, to the mountains Lovo\u0161, Mile\u0161ovka, Klete\u010dn\u00e1, etc. From Radob\u00fdl we will head via Michalovice to Velky \u017dernoseky<\/em>, a famous wine-growing village on the banks of the Elbe River, where it begins Porta Bohemica<\/em> (Gate of Bohemia), a four-kilometer and in places up to one hundred and forty meters deep canyon of the Elbe. We will walk through it from Velk\u00e9 \u017dernoseky through the Kalv\u00e1rie nature reserve to the rocky promontory of the same name with three crosses, where rare flora can be found. From Calvary<\/em> let's go to the village Pebble<\/em> with the ruins of the medieval castle of the same name and further along the Kam\u00fdk-Hlinn\u00e1 nature trail to a forested basalt cone Bald eagles<\/em> (509 m above sea level), a natural monument of the same name. From Ple\u0161ivec we will continue via Hlinn\u00e1 to Bald Mountain<\/em> (576 m above sea level), a nature reserve of European importance (occurrence of the open grasshopper and the highly endangered meadow grasshopper) and continue along the green and yellow signs to the beautiful Raven Rock<\/em> up to the top of the basalt ridge Varho\u0161t<\/em> (639 m above sea level) with a lookout tower from which there is a unique view of the Bohemian Central Mountains. We will spend the night under Varho\u0161t\u011bm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 9. 5.: Varho\u0161\u0165, Dlouh\u00fd vrch, Panna, Kalich, Lit\u00fd\u0161, Sedlo (26 km)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The next morning we will set off along the yellow trail to the mountain village of \u010ce\u0159eni\u0161t\u011b and from there to the Babinsk\u00e9 louky natural monument, a European important site for the protection of the lily-leaved bellflower and other rare species of foothill meadows. We will then continue on to Long hill<\/em> (655 m above sea level) and follow the yellow to Sta\u0148kovice, from there to the village of R\u00fdde\u010d and to the volcanic cone Virgo<\/em> (594 m above sea level) with a hillfort and the remains of a castle from the 14th century. From Panna we descend to the village of \u0158ep\u010dice and from there we head to another volcanic hill Calyx<\/em> (536 m above sea level), formed by volcanic rock trachyte, with the remains of \u017di\u017eka Castle. We descend to the village Trebusin<\/em>from which we will follow the red tourist trail to the Zn\u011blcovy Hill Litysh<\/em> (435 m above sea level) with the ruins of a medieval castle. We will continue along the red path to the crossroads below Small Saddle<\/em> (535 m above sea level), from where we climb to the highest peak of the Verne\u0159ice Central Mountains, a massive mountain Seat<\/em> (726 m above sea level). The saddle (also Jele\u010dsk\u00e1 hora) with two prominent peaks is one of the most beautiful mountains of the Bohemian Central Mountains. There is a national nature reserve here, which protects the remains of original deciduous forests with remnants of rare flora. We will spend the night on the top of the mountain, where we will have an improvised poetic ritual.<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 10. 5.: Sedlo, Hab\u0159ina, \u00da\u0161t\u011bk, Kalv\u00e1rie, Helfenburk, Skalka, Vlho\u0161\u0165 (21 km)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In the morning we will set off from Sedlo on the red trail to Srdov and then to Hab\u0159ina, from where we will continue along the Chmela\u0159 pond to \u00da\u0161t\u011bk. Those of you who want to end your journey in \u00da\u0161t\u011bk can return to Prague by train from here. At the same time We expect that new pilgrims will join us in \u00da\u0161t\u011bk and will travel with us to Vlho\u0161\u0165 for the final part of the pilgrimage. poetry meeting at Mal\u00e9 Vlho\u0161t\u011b<\/em><\/strong>We will walk through \u00da\u0161t\u011bk and take the road to Ostr\u00fd up to the hill. Calvary<\/em> with a Baroque pilgrimage area with the Stations of the Cross and the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre by Ottavio Broggio. There is a unique view of Sedlo and \u00da\u0161t\u011bk from here and from the top of Kalvarija and the top of Velk\u00e9 Vlho\u0161t\u011b<\/em>. At Calvary, a poetic invocation of the spring landscape around us can be heard. Then we will set off to Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9 mine<\/em>, which we will travel to Macha's favorite castle ruins Helfenburg<\/em>From there we follow the yellow trail to Skalka, where we have lunch and then head over Silver Hill<\/em> (400 m above sea level) and V\u010del\u00ed hrad up to Little Vlho\u0161\u0165<\/em> (440 m above sea level), where we will celebrate May poetry recitation<\/strong>. Bring with you poems you would like to read.<\/strong>Mal\u00fd Vlho\u0161\u0165 is a great place where you can listen to nature and talk to it \u2013 talk to the mountains, clouds, winds, forests, birds, and the magical moon.<\/a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday 11. 5.: Vlho\u0161\u0165, Pastviny, Holany (6 km)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In the morning, we will first go around the massive Zn\u011blce mountain Vlho\u0161\u0165<\/em> (613 m above sea level), the highest hill in the entire Koko\u0159\u00edn region. There is a nature reserve with rubble forests (beech forests and relict pines) here, and the wood pigeon and the peregrine falcon nest here. Then we will follow the blue tourist trail along Court stones<\/em> to Holany, from where we will return by bus back to Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
