Thursday, August 21<\/strong> As part of this year's Krkono\u0161e Pilgrimage, we want to celebrate the poet Vladim\u00edr Holan, the great heir of KH M\u00e1cha. Holan spent his childhood in M\u00e1cha's region around Bezd\u011bz, which profoundly influenced his poetry. Like M\u00e1cha, he is a poet of the night, fascinated by the mystery of death. On Thursday, August 21, at 9 a.m., we will meet in the park on Kampa near the house where Vladim\u00edr Holan has lived since 1948. Here, under the crowns of a mighty plane tree and a beautiful linden tree, we will commemorate the relationship between the two great poets M\u00e1cha and Holan. We will read an excerpt from Holan's text About KH M\u00e1cha and some of Holan's poems from the poetry collections Triumph of Death and Vanut\u00ed, including verses from the poet's key poem Night with Hamlet. Those of you who come to this meeting can bring with you Holan's poems that have appealed to you in some way. We will share Holan's poetry with each other and find out how it resonates with our lives today. Finally, we will walk through Pet\u0159\u00edn and, with Ond\u0159ej Skovajsa, a recent doctoral student at the Institute of Czech Literature and Comparative Studies at Charles University, we will remember the poets Jaroslav Vrchlick\u00fd and Rainer Maria Rilke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pilgrimage of the Giant Mountains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We will set off on our own Krkono\u0161e Pilgrimage in Friday, August 22<\/strong> at 8 am from the observatory in L\u00e1dv\u00ed. For the first time, we will consider this journey as a celebration of poetry and at the same time as a work trip, which should lead to the final form of the route of M\u00e1cha's Pilgrimage Route (approx. 280 km). From the city center, you can take the metro to the L\u00e1dv\u00ed station and from there you can walk to the observatory. From L\u00e1dv\u00ed we will follow the yellow sign to \u010e\u00e1blice and from there along a dirt road to Zdib. Then to Zdibsko, Sedlec and through the forest to Panensk\u00e9 B\u0159e\u017eany, where we will see the Baroque chapel of St. Anne by architect Santini. Then we will travel to \u010cenkov and through the natural monument Kope\u010d and Net\u0159ebsk\u00e1 slaniska to Ob\u0159\u00edstv\u00ed on the banks of the Elbe. We will cross the Elbe over the bridge at \u0160t\u011bp\u00e1n and along its course we will reach the castle in M\u011bln\u00edk. We will spend the night in the Ho\u0159\u00ednsk\u00fd park below M\u011bln\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, August 23<\/strong> We will meet at 8 am at the viewpoint at the M\u011blnice Castle, from where there is a beautiful view of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers and the nearby \u0158\u00edp. From there we will set off along the well-known route of the M\u00e1chov Way to Bezd\u011bz: along the red trail to Lhotka and further through Koko\u0159\u00ednsk\u00fd d\u016fl via Harasov, Koko\u0159\u00edn, Vojt\u011bchov, Ole\u0161no and R\u00e1j na Housku. We will rest in the Na konci sil pub and visit the beech forest behind Houska Castle, one of the main \u201cplaces of poetry\u201d on the M\u00e1chov Way. Here we will remember KH M\u00e1cha by reading from May. Then we will go to the Hostince pod Houskou, where at 8 pm we will start a poetry evening. We will introduce you to M\u00e1cha\u2019s pilgrimage path, we will remember the \u201cpoetry of the night\u201d of Vladim\u00edr Holan, who spent his childhood not far from here in B\u011bl\u00e1 pod Bezd\u011bzem. And also the poetry of the poet Kamil Bedn\u00e1\u0159, who lived in M\u011bln\u00edk at the end of his life, where he wrote and translated poems by Robinson Jeffers; we will read two excerpts from Bedn\u00e1\u0159's translations of Jeffers' poems. Then Ond\u0159ej Skovajsa will give a lecture on "The Written Voice of Whitman's Leaves of Grass (1855)" and Ond\u0159ej Vavre\u010dka will give a lecture on "On the Dual Form of (Film) Shapes". The musical group PAUMANOK will perform - Ond\u0159ej Skovajsa, Ond\u0159ej Vavre\u010dka and Pauli Bauer. We will spend the night in an inn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, August 24th<\/strong> We will go through Bo\u0159ejov \u2013 where we will visit the church of St. James the Elder with a modern altarpiece of the pilgrim St. James the Greater by Ale\u0161 Krej\u010d \u2013, \u017dd\u00edrec and Okno na Bezd\u011bz. From there we will continue to B\u011bl\u00e1 pod Bezd\u011bzem, where we will remember the stay and work of Vladim\u00edr Holan. We will then continue along the blue trail through the forest to Bitouchov and from there to the ruins of Zv\u00ed\u0159etice Castle, where we will spend the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday, August 25<\/strong> we will set off along the Jizera River to Mal\u00e1 B\u011bl\u00e1 and follow the red trail through Nov\u00e1 Ves to the Ra\u010dov National Nature Monument with moorland meadows and wetland alders, around the St. Prokop spring through the Kloko\u010dka field to the Hradi\u0161t\u011b nad Jizerou Monastery to Mnichov Hradi\u0161t\u011b. From there we will continue along the red trail to the Bohemian Paradise to the rock castle Vale\u010dov and then along the green trail to the Kom\u00e1rovsk\u00fd pond, where we will swim. We will then set off along the green trail and then along the red trail to the Kost Castle, from there along the blue trail through Dob\u0161ice to Vyske\u0159, before which we will spend the night in a meadow by the forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, August 26<\/strong> We will ascend the Stations of the Cross to the chapel on Vyske\u0159 (466 m above sea level) and from there we will continue along the blue mark to Hrub\u00e1 sk\u00e1la and then along the red mark to Trosky. From Trosky along the green mark and then along the red mark through Mlad\u011bjov to the rock castle of Pa\u0159ez, near which we will spend the night in an overhang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, August 27<\/strong> we will follow the green trail through the Prachov Rocks to Prachov and from there follow the blue trail through P\u0159iv\u00fd\u0161ina, Brad and Kbelnice to Ji\u010d\u00edn, where we will have lunch. We will visit the Wallenstein Loggia and Zeb\u00edn. In the evening we will follow the green trail to \u017deleznice and further before Bradleck\u00e1 Lhota to the ruins of Bradlec Castle, and finally to the ruins of Kumburk Castle, where we will spend the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, August 28<\/strong> We will hike along the red trail to Nov\u00e1 Paka and from Nov\u00e1 Paka continue along the red trail through Radkyn\u011b to Pecky. From there, follow the yellow trail under Jelen\u00ed h\u0159bet to Borovnice and further under \u010cisteck\u00e1 h\u016fra (586 m above sea level), where we will spend the night at the edge of the forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday, August 29th<\/strong> We will follow the yellow path over \u010cisteck\u00e1 h\u016fra to \u010cist\u00e1 and from there we will continue along the dirt road to Bukovina u Studenec and then along the road to Studenec and from there along the red path to Str\u00e1\u017en\u00edk peak (630 m above sea level). From Str\u00e1\u017en\u00edk follow the blue path to Martinice v Krkono\u0161e and from there along the blue path to Horn\u00ed Bran\u00e1. We will pass Horn\u00ed Bran\u00e1 to Valte\u0159ice, which we will pass and then set off along the blue path to the foothills of the Krkono\u0161e, where we will spend the night in the meadows under the forest (or alternatively, we will spend the night in our makeshift hayloft).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, August 30<\/strong> We will follow the blue trail to the K\u0159\u00ed\u017eovka crossroads on the border of the Krkono\u0161e National Park and from there follow the yellow trail to P\u0159edn\u00ed \u017dal\u00fd (1018 m above sea level). We will then continue along the ridge along the red trail to \u010cern\u00e1 sk\u00e1la (1038 m above sea level) and further to Mechovinec (1074 m above sea level) and Horn\u00ed M\u00edse\u010dky, from where we will descend along the red trail to \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn, where we will have lunch. From \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn, we will then set off along the yellow trail through the B\u00edl\u00e9 Elbe Valley to Lu\u010dn\u00ed bouda, where we will spend the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday, August 31st<\/strong> We will climb to the sunrise on Sn\u011b\u017eka (1602 m above sea level). On the top of Sn\u011b\u017eka we will read M\u00e1cha's prose Pou\u0165 Krkono\u0161sk\u00e1. From the top of Sn\u011b\u017eka we will descend along the blue Ob\u0159\u00ed D\u016fl to Pec pod Sn\u011b\u017ekou and from there we will return by bus to Prague. Or we will take an alternative route via Horn\u00ed M\u00edse\u010dky to Horn\u00ed Mar\u0161ov and from there by bus to Prague.  <\/p>\n\n\n

If you do not walk the entire route with us, you can join the journey at the main points of the pilgrimage route \u2013 i.e. in M\u011blnica, Houska, Mnichovo Hradi\u0161t\u011b, Ji\u010d\u00edn, Pecce, \u0160pindler\u016fv Ml\u00fdn \u2013 and walk with us for any length of time. We remind you that we do not provide overnight accommodation anywhere in advance. We sleep under the stars. If you want to insure your accommodation, please book it yourself. We also recommend that you bring blister plasters with you \u2013 the best brand is COSMOS. Everyone is free to walk and is responsible for themselves. We only ask that you be tolerant of other pilgrims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
